At the Gardens, residents live in a desirable neighborhood,
close to restaurants and shops, yet secluded from noise and traffic.
Their surroundings are lovely and safe, a source of pride for them and
their families. Residents have their cherished furniture and personal
possessions around them, yet are free from the worries of home
maintenance. Their small pets are welcome.
Both floors of our two story building are classified as
non-ambulatory and as such, can accommodate residents using walkers,
wheelchairs, and electric scooters.
Each studio and one-bedroom apartment features a spacious
private bathroom, and some have kitchenettes. All units come furnished
with wall-to-wall carpeting, window coverings, and alert buttons.
The Surrounding
Area
Assisted Living in Van Nuys - the Gardens at Park Balboa is located in Van Nuys, which is
in the center of the
San Fernando Valley
–
and is about a ½ hour drive to anywhere in
Los
Angeles
– including theaters, restaurants,
beaches,
Beverly Hills
,
Universal City Walk and downtown
Los Angeles
.
The
San Fernando Valley
is home to
1.5 million widely diverse people. Housing varies from luxury homes on
the hillsides of Encino and Sherman Oaks, to modest yet tidy
neighborhoods scattered across the Valley floor. Trendy restaurants and
shopping areas are close by on
Ventura Boulevard
,
which runs the length of the Valley. Nearby NoHo is a revitalized theater
and art gallery district. Several shopping centers and malls are within
close distance of the Gardens.
The Valley has a strong Spanish influence in both
architecture and heritage, from the
Mission
in
San Fernando
to the Leonis
and Lopez Adobes. Once home to countless acres of orange groves, residential
neighborhoods and commercial centers now fill most of the Valley.
The weather is mostly sunny and warm, with cold winter
mornings for a change of pace. There is a short rainy season from
December to March, followed by warm and cloudless days, which make it
easy to get to doctors, shopping, etc.
Nature lovers enjoy the area’s many amenities, such as
Balboa Park with its lake and Japanese Water Garden, as well as Griffith
Park (the largest park in Los Angeles), which is a popular destination
for barbecue lunches for our residents. Numerous golf courses are located
in and around the Valley.
